Worth knowing
Astromar; cover, cost and conditions
Astromar boats are compact cabin boats of Spanish manufacture, in Germany mostly used on inland waters. They are light, trailerable and are run with outboards between 40 and 115 hp. What counts for the premium is the power output, and for hull insurance the engine details with serial number.
Boats of this size often spend the winter out in the open. Snow load on a tightly stretched cover is a real loss, covered if the boat is properly covered and blocked up. A support structure under the tarpaulin costs little and prevents exactly this case.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
Are losses caused by snow load covered?
Yes, in winter storage if the boat is properly blocked up and covered. Document the setup with a photo.
What does insurance for a 5-metre boat cost?
Third-party liability starts at about 49 euros a year, hull insurance according to value. The online calculator gives the exact premium.

Series by Astromar, with value and cover
Astromar LS 470 / 515 is a motorboat from Astromar (Spain), built from 1985 to 2005, and today changes hands at between €5,000 and €18,000.
Astromar 615 / 665 is a motorboat from Astromar (Spain), built from 1990 to 2010, and today changes hands at between €9,000 and €32,000.
For a series built in these years the market value and the replacement cost often differ widely. An agreed value removes the age-based scale, and the figure in the policy stands.
On a motorboat the drive is the single most valuable part. Damage after grounding is covered, an engine failure from wear is not.
