Worth knowing
B1 Yachts; cover, cost and conditions
B1 Yachts is the second brand of the B1 boat manufactory in Werder an der Havel, sister brand of Aqualine. The St. Tropez range is sold in sizes 5, 6 and 7, together with changing editions such as Deep Sea, Formula Red and Ocean Summer. Trailerable cabin boats, built to order.
For the insurance, editions are more than a name. They differ in upholstery, electronics, deck covering and engine power, and therefore in value. Two St. Tropez 6 boats of the same year of construction can be far apart. Enter the edition and the equipment list, and the sum insured is set down on paper.
Because these boats are trailerable, they change waters more often than a yacht on a permanent berth. The cruising range in the contract should therefore not be your home lake, but the most distant water you head for during the year. An extension costs little, a loss outside the agreed range costs everything.
New boats from the manufactory need no reduction in value according to the year of construction. In the first years, new value compensation makes sense: in the event of a total loss the new price is paid, not the current value from a table.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
What is the difference between B1 Yachts and Aqualine?
Both brands come from the same manufactory in Werder an der Havel. Aqualine runs the number series from 500 to 750, B1 Yachts the St. Tropez range in editions. For the premium and the cover the brand makes no difference; what counts are length, value, engine power and cruising range.
The purchase contract says Bootscenter B1, the ship certificate says B1 Yachts. Is that a problem?
No. The manufactory appears under several names: Bootscenter B1, Bootscenter an der B1 and B1 Yachts. Our calculator recognises all spellings and assigns them to the same brand.
Is new value compensation worthwhile for a boat from a manufactory?
In the first years, yes. A boat built to order cannot be replaced at the current value of a production boat. With new value compensation the new price is paid in the event of a total loss, as long as the agreed period is running.

As the series is still in production, parts are available and repair costs are predictable. Even so, value it at replacement cost including retrofitted electronics, not at list price.
On a motorboat the drive is the single most valuable part. Damage after grounding is covered, an engine failure from wear is not.
