The connections are the point where most damage arises. A faulty water connection, a leaking waste water pipe or a short circuit on the shore power supply are the typical cases. They are covered if the installation was carried out properly, so keep the invoices from the installation company. When water enters, the first question is whether the work was carried out properly, and the answer is on that invoice.
In a furnished holiday home the contents regularly exceed the value of the hull. Personal effects are included free of charge up to three per cent of the sum insured, a minimum of 1,000 and a maximum of 3,000 euros, and for a complete fit-out that is not enough. Declare the kitchen, furniture, electronics and heating as separate items and update them after every addition.

Legally a watercraft, and we insure it under hull insurance for boats. The risks, however, are those of a building: storm, water ingress, frost, burglary, fire.
How do I insure the furnishings?
As separate items. The 3 % for personal effects included free of charge (1,000 to 3,000 €) do not cover a complete fit-out.
