Doerak built small steel displacement boats between 7 and 9 metres in the Netherlands from the sixties into the nineties, compact cabin boats that are among the most widespread boats of all on Dutch and German inland waters. A Doerak today is a classic with steady demand and good resale values.

On a fifty-year-old steel boat the wall thickness is the decisive question. A hull that has been measured and maintained regularly will last for further decades; one whose corrosion protection has been neglected rusts through from the inside. Corrosion is wear and tear and is not covered, which is why the measurement is not only technical information but information relevant to insurance. It is the basis for an agreed value.
