Worth knowing
Grandezza; cover, cost and conditions
Grandezza builds GRP boats between 7 and 12 metres in Finland in the upper mid-range segment: daycruisers, open and cabin models with a high-quality teak interior. The interior is the point that sets these boats apart from simpler production boats in insurance terms: water damage in the saloon does not hit plastic but veneered surfaces and upholstery, and the repair costs are correspondingly higher.
Water damage from the inside is the most frequent hull claim on fitted-out cabin boats: a burst pipe on the fresh water system, a defective boiler, a leaking deck fitting above the berth. We cover this damage under full hull cover when it occurs suddenly, not in the case of slowly penetrating moisture that goes unnoticed for months. Check the boat regularly in winter, especially when it is lying under its cover.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
Is water damage to the interior covered?
Under full hull cover yes, if it occurs suddenly, for example through a burst pipe. Slowly penetrating moisture that goes unnoticed for months counts as wear and tear.

Series by Grandezza, with value and cover
Grandezza 34 / 37 is a motor yacht from Grandezza (Finland), built since 2014, and today changes hands at between €290,000 and €690,000.
Grandezza 25 / 28 is a motorboat from Grandezza (Finland), built since 2010, and today changes hands at between €95,000 and €240,000.
Grandezza 33 is a motor yacht from Grandezza (Finland), built since 2012, and today changes hands at between €190,000 and €560,000.
As the series is still in production, parts are available and repair costs are predictable. Even so, value it at replacement cost including retrofitted electronics, not at list price.
On motor yachts the drive and the electronics together make up about half the value. Both belong in the valuation, otherwise the sum insured is too low.
On a motorboat the drive is the single most valuable part. Damage after grounding is covered, an engine failure from wear is not.
