Gumotex builds inflatable kayaks in the Czech Republic from Nitrilon, a rubberised fabric that is considerably more robust than the PVC of cheap inflatable kayaks and withstands contact with rock and UV radiation for a long time. Swing, Twist and Framura are touring boats that fit into a rucksack when packed and still come close to hard-shell boats in handling.
For the insurance the quality of the material is relevant because it determines the service life. Nitrilon lasts twenty years and more; the ageing of the material is wear and tear and cannot be insured. What is insured is damage from outside: slitting on rocks or branches, tearing caused by floating debris, storm damage, theft. With a boat that is carried in a rucksack, theft is the most likely case.

We do not offer boat third-party liability for muscle-powered craft; as a rule your private liability insurance applies instead. Check it: not every private liability policy includes watercraft, and on white water or in busy waters a liability claim cannot be ruled out.
