When buying a used yacht it is the replacement value that counts, not the price once paid. Hakvoort is a family shipyard for steel yachts from the Netherlands and builds one-off vessels with long construction times, recorded in two model ranges between 25 and 65 metres. For one-off vessels we agree the value individually.
The classics of 25 and 32 metres were built between 1970 and 1995, the range of 35 and 45 metres from 1990 to this day. At such values the online purchase up to a sum insured of 2.5 million euros no longer applies; above that we examine each case individually.
The framework remains the same: third-party liability with a limit of indemnity of 10 to 50 million euros, plus limited hull cover or full hull cover with an agreed value and compensation with no deduction for depreciation (new for old). You receive the international certificate of insurance automatically in ten languages.

Frequent questions
How are yachts above a sum insured of 2.5 million euros accepted?
Up to 2.5 million euros the policy is taken out online, above that an individual assessment follows. Value, year of construction, type of construction and cruising range are then considered together.
Can a one-off vessel without series production be insured?
Yes. Small series and home-built boats can be insured, as can one-off vessels. The basis is an agreed value, which in the event of a claim is paid with no deduction for depreciation (new for old).

A powerboat licence (inland or coastal) is required from 15 hp (11.03 kW).
Registration
