Worth knowing
Heesen Yachts; cover, cost and conditions
In Oss, Heesen builds superyachts between 35 and 80 metres, with a focus on fast aluminium hulls, and the yard has built several of the fastest yachts in their size class. Aluminium and high speed are both relevant to insurance: a light hull, a higher energy of impact.
With yachts of this class the sum insured lies far above the calculator limit of 2.5 million euros, and underwriting runs case by case through the international market. What is negotiated here is the cruising range, crew cover, deductibles and the split between risk carriers. Call us if you want to insure a yacht of this class or have an existing policy reviewed.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
Does aluminium construction play a role in underwriting?
Yes, it goes into the risk assessment, aluminium is lighter and forgives contact differently from steel. What remains decisive is the value, the length, the power and the cruising range.
The cover that fits
For the whole class of boat
What matters for motor yachts is the same across every brand; engine output, how a claim is settled, cruising range and theft protection. The class page lists every point and every brand in this class.

Series by Heesen, with value and cover
Heesen 50 / 55 m Aluminium is a motor yacht from Heesen (the Netherlands), built since 2000, and today changes hands at between €3,200,000 and €6,800,000.
Heesen 70 / 80 m Stahl is a motor yacht from Heesen (the Netherlands), built since 2010, and today changes hands at between €7,500,000 and €18,000,000.
Custom Motoryacht 35 to 80 m is a motor yacht from Heesen (the Netherlands), built since 1990, and today changes hands at between €14,000,000 and €90,000,000.
As the series is still in production, parts are available and repair costs are predictable. Even so, value it at replacement cost including retrofitted electronics, not at list price.
On motor yachts the drive and the electronics together make up about half the value. Both belong in the valuation, otherwise the sum insured is too low.
