Worth knowing
Hylas Yachts; cover, cost and conditions
Blue-water yachts from Taiwan from 13 to 19 m in length: the Hylas 54 / 63 has been built since 1995, the H57 / H60 since 2018, and the 44 / 49 was built from 1990 to 2020. Hylas yachts are frequently under way on circumnavigations, which is why the cruising range is defined when the policy is taken out.
For long passages, the limit of indemnity in third-party liability counts: 10 to 50 million euros, in the levels Basis, Basis-Plus and Premium. You receive the international certificate of insurance automatically in ten languages, so that it is at hand in harbours and with the authorities.
Full hull cover works with an agreed value, indemnifies with no deduction for depreciation (new for old) and, in the Premium tariff, with no age limit. It covers collision, grounding, vandalism and theft of parts including the outboard, with no time window and no night clause.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
What should be borne in mind on long passages?
The cruising range is agreed when the policy is taken out and feeds into the premium. We issue the international certificate of insurance automatically in ten languages.
Which limit of indemnity suits a yacht of 19 m?
You can choose 10 to 50 million euros in the levels Basis, Basis-Plus and Premium. Up to a sum insured of 2.5 million euros the policy is taken out online; above that an individual assessment follows.

Series by Hylas Yachts, with value and cover
Hylas 44 / 49 is a sailing yacht from Hylas Yachts (TW), built from 1990 to 2020, and today changes hands at between €190,000 and €480,000.
Hylas 54 / 63 is a sailing yacht from Hylas Yachts (TW), built since 1995, and today changes hands at between €420,000 and €1,200,000.
Hylas H57 / H60 is a sailing yacht from Hylas Yachts (TW), built since 2018, and today changes hands at between €1,200,000 and €2,200,000.
For a series built in these years the market value and the replacement cost often differ widely. An agreed value removes the age-based scale, and the figure in the policy stands.
On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts: a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat, and osmosis counts as wear and is covered by no hull policy.
As the series is still in production, parts are available and repair costs are predictable. Even so, value it at replacement cost including retrofitted electronics, not at list price.
