Worth knowing
Magnum Marine; cover, cost and conditions
Fast offshore boats from Italy shape the range of Magnum Marine, with lengths from 13 to 21 metres. The Magnum 44 and 53 have been built since 1980, the 60 and 70 since 1990 and to this day, and the classics 27 and 35 were built from 1965 to 1990. The hulls come from the Don Aronow school.
With motor boats the engine power enters the premium as a factor of its own, alongside the type of boat, value, year of construction and cruising range. The brand plays no part. Please state the engine set-up in full so that the agreed value and the premium match the actual condition of the boat.
In the hull insurance there is no time window and no night-time clause. Full hull cover covers collision, grounding, vandalism and theft of parts including the outboard; compensation is paid on the agreed value with no deduction for depreciation (new for old), in the Premium tariff with no age limit.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
How does a powerful engine set-up affect the premium?
Engine power is one of the factors from which the premium results, together with the type of boat, value, year of construction and cruising range. The brand does not enter into it.
Are there restrictions on trips in darkness?
No. There is no time window and no night-time clause in the hull insurance. What matters is solely the cruising range agreed in the policy.

Series by Magnum Marine, with value and cover
Magnum 44 / 53 is a motor yacht from Magnum Marine (Italy), built since 1980, and today changes hands at between €290,000 and €1,200,000.
Magnum 60 / 70 is a motor yacht from Magnum Marine (Italy), built since 1990, and today changes hands at between €890,000 and €2,600,000.
Magnum classic 27 / 35 is a motorboat from Magnum Marine (Italy), built from 1965 to 1990, and today changes hands at between €60,000 and €290,000.
As the series is still in production, parts are available and repair costs are predictable. Even so, value it at replacement cost including retrofitted electronics, not at list price.
On motor yachts the drive and the electronics together make up about half the value. Both belong in the valuation, otherwise the sum insured is too low.
For a series of this age there is no list price left. That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it, and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
On a motorboat the drive is the single most valuable part. Damage after grounding is covered, an engine failure from wear is not.
