Orkney builds GRP fishing boats in England with high freeboard and a deep V hull; the Longliner and Pilothouse are built for the British coast and are seaworthy accordingly, and in Germany they are used above all on the North Sea and the Baltic. Seaworthiness is the point: these boats are taken out in conditions in which smaller fishing boats stay in harbour.
For the cruising range this means that the right level matters more than with an inland boat. The North Sea and the Baltic are a cruising range level of their own, including the Kattegat and the Skagerrak, with the North Sea bounded by the lines Bergen to Wick and Land's End to Ushant. Anyone going beyond that needs the extension. In the Wadden Sea the tide is an added factor: drying out with damage is grounding and is covered under full hull cover, whereas a planned drying out is not an insured event.
The Pilothouse models have an enclosed wheelhouse and therefore electronics on board: echo sounder, chart plotter, radio. List these values as a separate item; on a well-equipped fishing boat they add up to a four-figure amount, and theft of electronics from a wheelhouse is a real occurrence. The fishing equipment itself can be covered as accessories if it is stated in the application.
