Pendennis in Falmouth builds sailing and motor yachts as one-offs and is at the same time one of the leading refit yards for large yachts, from the restoration of classic J-Class yachts to new builds. Both matter in insurance terms, because a refit fundamentally changes the value of a yacht.
After a substantial refit the old agreed value is wrong. Anyone who has the hull, rig, engine and interior renewed for a seven-figure sum has a different yacht afterwards, and needs a new survey and an adjusted agreed value. During the refit itself the following applies: time ashore and repair are included, but do discuss a stay at the yard lasting several years with us.
