Worth knowing
Rocca; cover, cost and conditions
In France, from the fifties into the seventies, Rocca built mahogany runabouts that today rank among the sought-after European classics, comparable to Riva but in smaller numbers. A Rocca is a collector's item: the value comes from originality and state of preservation, not from usability. For the insurance this means an agreed value based on a survey, unlimited in the Premium tariff, with a revaluation after each stage of restoration.
We insure wooden hulls with a surcharge from a sum insured of 20,000 € upwards. What cannot be insured is ageing itself, as cracks in the varnish, movement in the seams and drying damage from winter storage are wear and tear. What can be insured are damage events: storm, hail, fire, theft, collision and transit damage. With a mahogany runabout, transport to a regatta or to a concours is the moment of highest risk.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
Is transit damage covered on a classic boat?
Yes, transport with suitable means of transport is included, with the exception of sea transport, which has to be included on request. With classics, road transport is the critical moment.

For a series of this age there is no list price left. That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it, and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
On a motorboat the drive is the single most valuable part. Damage after grounding is covered, an engine failure from wear is not.
