Worth knowing
Sealine; cover, cost and conditions
Sealine was founded in Great Britain and is built today in Germany by the Hanse Group. The boats are sport cruisers and flybridge models between nine and fifteen metres, many of them with sterndrive or inboard engine.
We charge no surcharge for superstructures such as a flybridge. Here too, the expensive loss is drive damage after grounding, full hull cover as all risks cover. On older models from British production it is worth looking at the spare parts situation: what is hard to obtain extends the repair time, not the cover. A well-kept boat data sheet with an equipment list speeds up settlement.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
Does the flybridge cost a surcharge?
No. From the sport cruiser to the flybridge the same tariff applies; for us, superstructures do not mean an increased risk.

For a series of this age there is no list price left. That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it, and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
On a motorboat the drive is the single most valuable part. Damage after grounding is covered, an engine failure from wear is not.
On motor yachts the drive and the electronics together make up about half the value. Both belong in the valuation, otherwise the sum insured is too low.
For a series built in these years the market value and the replacement cost often differ widely. An agreed value removes the age-based scale, and the figure in the policy stands.
As the series is still in production, parts are available and repair costs are predictable. Even so, value it at replacement cost including retrofitted electronics, not at list price.
