Zar Formenti builds rigid inflatable boats in northern Italy that are considered especially seaworthy. The model number gives the length in decimetres: the Zar 47 is a 4.70 metre boat, the 57 a 5.70 metre boat. In our portfolio the brand appears under many spellings, Formenti, Zar by Formenti, For-Sea Zar, and the same yard is always meant.
On a Zar the outboard regularly accounts for half the value, on the larger models more. It belongs in the contract with manufacturer, power and serial number, otherwise the hull insurance only covers the boat in the event of theft. For a GPS or Bluetooth tracker system with its own power supply we give a ten percent discount on the hull insurance, which pays off quickly on these boats.
The tube is the second special feature. Sudden damage from a cut, a collision or vandalism is covered, UV ageing and porous seams after many summers are wear and tear. A new tube skin is a value-enhancing measure and should be reported so that it is included in the agreed value. Anyone who leaves the boat in the water permanently over the summer should cover it, which considerably extends the life of the tubes.
The small Zar Mini are a world of their own: tenders and fishing boats from 2.5 to 4.5 metres with an aluminium floor or a rigid hull. They often travel along as a tender on a yacht and are then included in the mother yacht's contract up to an agreed sum. Anyone who uses the tender independently is better off listing it with its own value.

Is the outboard included in the cover?
In full hull cover yes, including theft of parts, if it is listed in the contract with power and serial number.
Is a new tube skin included in the value?
Yes, if you report it. The new skin enhances the value and belongs in the agreed value. Ageing of the old tube remains wear and tear.

On an inflatable the cause decides, not the damage: a tear from impact is covered, porous fabric after years in the sun is not. The outboard belongs in the policy with its serial number.
On a motorboat the drive is the single most valuable part. Damage after grounding is covered, an engine failure from wear is not.
