Boston Whaler builds console and cabin boats in Florida with the Unibond hull: a foamed sandwich construction that makes the boat unsinkable, and even sawn through it stays afloat. For the insurance this is not a blank cheque, but it is a real advantage: sinking through water ingress, otherwise a total loss risk, is practically ruled out. What remains are collision, grounding, theft and fire.
The block of value in a Boston Whaler is the engine installation. The boats run with one, two or three high-output outboards, and the engines often account for half the value of the boat. On top of that, boats with several engines are particularly attractive for engine theft. In full hull cover, theft of parts is covered, on condition that there is security beyond the clamping screws; with three engines on the transom a fixed bolted mounting with a locking plate is worthwhile.
