Cobia Boats; cover, cost and conditions
Cobia builds center console boats for use in salt water; in Europe they are mostly found on the Baltic or in the Mediterranean. The outboard is the most expensive single item on these boats, and on the larger models two or three of them sit on the transom. That is precisely why every engine belongs in the policy with its manufacturer, power output and serial number, because otherwise the hull insurance covers only the hull in the event of theft.
Outboard theft is a real risk in North Sea and Baltic harbours and is carried out in an organised way. We grant a ten percent discount on the hull insurance if a GPS or Bluetooth tracker is fitted. Make sure the device has its own power supply: practised thieves disconnect the battery first.
In fishing use the equipment is added to this. An echo sounder, rod holders, an electric motor and a cool box quickly add up to a four figure amount. Permanently installed equipment is included in the hull insurance if it has been taken into account in the value of the boat, loose items are not automatically. Include the fitted items in the sum insured instead of forgetting them.

Are two or three outboards all covered?
Yes, if all of them are named in the policy. List every engine individually with its serial number; with multiple engine installations this is the most common mistake in older policies.
Is my echo sounder covered?
Permanently installed electronics yes, provided they are contained in the sum insured. Add retrofitted items to the value of the boat, otherwise they are not reflected in the event of a claim.
