Two sailing yacht ranges are recorded for Aage Utzon, Explorer and Nautica, both with build periods between 1967 and 1975. Anyone taking over such a yacht today is buying second hand. For full hull cover we therefore agree an agreed value before the policy starts, which reflects the replacement value and is not renegotiated in the event of a claim.
The purchase price of a used boat says little about the sum that a replacement would cost. We insure regardless of the year of construction, the place of purchase and previous owners, and we set the sum insured together with you. Up to a sum insured of 2.5 million euros the policy is taken out online, above that we assess the individual case.
On every yacht third-party liability remains the basis, with a limit of indemnity of 10 to 50 million euros in the Basis, Basis-Plus and Premium tariff levels. Full hull cover adds collision, grounding, vandalism and theft of parts including the outboard. There is no deduction for depreciation ("new for old"), in the Premium tariff with no age limit.

How is the value of a yacht from the build years 1967 to 1975 determined?
We agree an agreed value. This sum is stated in the policy and is paid out in the event of a total loss with no deduction for depreciation, in the Premium tariff also with no age limit for the boat.
Does it matter that these ranges were built a long time ago?
No. For the premium what counts is the type of boat, the value, the year of construction, the sail area and the cruising range, not the brand. We also take boats with several previous owners and an older year of construction into cover.
