Worth knowing
Cavalier Yachts; cover, cost and conditions
At Cavalier Yachts the recorded years of construction run from 1967 to 1994, spread across the Cavalier 26, the Cavalier 32 and the Cavalier 37. All three ranges are sailing yachts, and production has ended. For sailing yachts the sail area counts towards the premium instead of the engine output, in addition to value, year of construction and cruising range.
Boats with such years of construction change hands on the second-hand market. The age is no reason for exclusion for us: we insure regardless of year of construction, place of purchase and previous owners, and in the Premium tariff the age limit in full hull cover does not apply. The agreed value is fixed as early as when the policy is taken out.
Club races are included from Basis-Plus, and races with scoring status you state when taking out the policy. Third-party liability remains the basis with a limit of indemnity of 10 to 50 million euros, graded across Basis, Basis-Plus and Premium. Winter storage, craning, launching and transport remain covered.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
Are races with a Cavalier covered?
Club races are included from the Basis-Plus level. Races with scoring status you report when taking out the policy so that they are correctly recorded in the contract.
How is the premium for an older sailing yacht calculated?
From the type of boat, value, year of construction, sail area and cruising range. The brand plays no part, and neither does the place of purchase or the number of previous owners.
The cover that fits
For the whole class of boat
What matters for sailing boats and sailing yachts is the same across every brand; engine output, how a claim is settled, cruising range and theft protection. The class page lists every point and every brand in this class.

Series by Cavalier Yachts, build years and cover
Cavalier 37 is a sailing yacht from Cavalier Yachts, built from 1982 to 1994.
Cavalier 32 is a sailing yacht from Cavalier Yachts, built from 1967 to 1991.
Cavalier 26 is a sailing yacht from Cavalier Yachts, built from 1974 to 1989.
For a series of this age there is no list price left. That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it, and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts: a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat, and osmosis counts as wear and is covered by no hull policy.
