Worth knowing
Chauson; cover, cost and conditions
Between 1985 and 1995 five ranges were built: Sea Trawler 36, Sea Trawler 37, Seatrawler 40 as well as Tug-Boat 30 and Tug-Boat 36, all of them motor yachts. Production lies in the past, the boats are still out there. Where they are out there decides the cruising range, which is recorded in the contract.
Inland or coastal is not a formality but one of the variables from which the premium arises, alongside the type of boat, the value, the year of construction and the engine power. Anyone who changes their cruising area reports it and receives the matching cover. For trips abroad we issue the international certificate of insurance automatically in ten languages.
Regardless of the area, the cover also applies ashore: in winter storage, during craning, during launching and while in transport. Under the full hull cover the value is set as an agreed value and replaced with no deduction for depreciation.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
How does the cruising range affect the contract?
It is one of the factors for the premium, alongside the type of boat, the value, the year of construction and the engine power. Inland and coastal waters are rated differently and are therefore recorded in the contract.
What documents are there for trips abroad?
The international certificate of insurance is issued automatically in ten languages. With it you can prove your cover outside Germany as well, without having to request it.

On motor yachts the drive and the electronics together make up about half the value. Both belong in the valuation, otherwise the sum insured is too low.
