Worth knowing
Ecatec; cover, cost and conditions
One cabin catamaran stands under this brand: the Monaco 439 with years of build from 1997 to 2005. Nothing beyond this one model range is recorded, further details about the yard or the country are missing. Small series and home-built boats are expressly insurable at NAMMERT.
For a catamaran with a cabin the full hull cover carries collision, grounding, vandalism and theft of parts including the outboard. Compensation is paid on the agreed value with no deduction for depreciation ("new for old"), in the Premium tariff with no age limit. The agreed figure is thus fixed in advance.
Third-party liability with a limit of indemnity of 10 to 50 million euros forms the basis, in the Basis, Basis-Plus and Premium levels. Up to a sum insured of 2.5 million euros the policy can be taken out online, above that an individual assessment follows. You receive the certificate of insurance in ten languages.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
Can small series and one-offs be insured?
Yes. Small series and home-built boats can be insured, regardless of the year of build, the place of purchase and previous owners. A brand with only one documented model range is covered as well.
Up to what sum can the policy be taken out online?
Up to a sum insured of 2.5 million euros you take out the policy online. Above that we assess the individual case, and the scope of cover stays the same in both cases.

Series by Ecatec, build years and cover
Monaco 439 is a cabin catamaran from Ecatec, built from 1997 to 2005.
For a series built in these years the market value and the replacement cost often differ widely. An agreed value removes the age-based scale, and the figure in the policy stands.
On catamarans the bridgedeck between the hulls is the sensitive part, and the berth belongs in the application: double width often means a mooring rather than a marina.
