Four ranges are recorded for Fast Yachts: the Fast 42 with a production period from 1993 to 2014, plus Fast 19, Fast 54 and Lavranos 37 between 2005 and 2012. These are sailing boats and sailing yachts throughout, which brings a figure of its own into the premium calculation.
With sailing boats the sail area takes the place of the engine power. Together with the type of boat, value, year of construction and cruising range it produces the premium, never the brand. Club races are included from Basis-Plus upwards; races with ranking status you state when taking out the policy.
As the production of these ranges lies in the past, the boats come onto the market second-hand today. We provide cover regardless of the year of construction, the place of purchase and previous owners, and the full hull cover works with an agreed value with no deduction for depreciation (new for old). For a series built in these years the market value and the replacement cost often differ widely. An agreed value removes the age-based scale, and the figure in the policy stands.
On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts: a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat, and osmosis counts as wear and is covered by no hull policy.
On boats this size the condition of rig and fittings decides. A dismasting is covered, worn terminals after years are not.
