Worth knowing
Germania Yachtbau; cover, cost and conditions
Two sailing yacht ranges are on file, the Germania 40 and the Germania 48, built from 1974 to 1984 and to 1981 respectively. No further information on the shipyard is stored. Anyone sailing abroad with such a yacht needs proof of insurance cover that is understood there.
We issue the international certificate of insurance automatically in ten languages. In ports and with authorities it proves that third-party liability and hull insurance are in place. The limit of indemnity in third-party liability is between 10 and 50 million euros, depending on the tariff level.
We record the cruising range in the policy; alongside the type of boat, value, year of construction and sail area it is one of the premium factors. Full hull cover pays according to the agreed value with no deduction for depreciation, in the Premium tariff with no age limit, and also covers collision and grounding.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
How do I prove insurance cover abroad?
With the international certificate of insurance, which we issue automatically in ten languages. It shows ports and authorities that third-party liability and hull insurance are in place.
Does a change of cruising area have to be reported?
Yes, the cruising range is a premium factor and is set out in the policy. Report the change before the trip and we will adjust the cover to the new area.

Series by Germania Yachtbau, build years and cover
Germania 40 is a sailing yacht from Germania Yachtbau, built from 1974 to 1984.
Germania 48 is a sailing yacht from Germania Yachtbau, built from 1974 to 1981.
For a series of this age there is no list price left. That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it, and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts: a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat, and osmosis counts as wear and is covered by no hull policy.
