Worth knowing
IDB Marine; cover, cost and conditions
IDB Marine appears in our records with ten boats, seven sailing yachts and three sailboats, built since 2009. The Malango and Mojito ranges define the fleet, from the Mojito 650 to the Malango 1088, with lengths from 6.5 to 11 metres.
When insuring an IDB Marine boat, value and cruising area should match the specific model, from the sporty 6.5 metre boat to the 11 metre yacht. The smaller models such as the Maxi 650 are trailerable, so transport belongs in the policy, with liability as the base.
NAMMERT insures IDB Marine boats regardless of build year and place of purchase. You can calculate the premium in the online calculator in about 5 minutes.

As the series is still in production, parts are available and repair costs are predictable. Even so, value it at replacement cost including retrofitted electronics, not at list price.
On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts: a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat, and osmosis counts as wear and is covered by no hull policy.
On boats this size the condition of rig and fittings decides. A dismasting is covered, worn terminals after years are not.
For a series built in these years the market value and the replacement cost often differ widely. An agreed value removes the age-based scale, and the figure in the policy stands.
