Two sailing yachts are recorded, the Life 7.5 since 2016 and the Life 12.0 since 2017, both still in the programme today. The figures in the name say nothing reliable about the length, so details of size remain open. For the premium on sailing boats, what counts in any case is the sail area.
It takes the place of the engine output and is assessed together with the type of boat, the value, the year of construction and the cruising range. The name of the yard never enters the calculation. Two yachts of the same length can therefore carry different premiums if their sail plan and their sailing area differ.
Club races are included from the Basis-Plus tariff upwards; races with ranking status you declare when taking out the policy. Full hull cover covers collision, grounding, vandalism and theft of parts, and payment is made with no deduction for depreciation ("new for old") on the basis of the agreed value.

Does the sail area feed into the premium?
Yes, on sailing yachts the sail area takes the place of the engine output. Added to that are the type of boat, the value, the year of construction and the cruising range. The brand is left out of the calculation.
Are races with a ranking covered?

Life 12.0 is a sailing yacht from Life Yachts Group, built since 2017.
As the series is still in production, parts are available and repair costs are predictable. Even so, value it at replacement cost including retrofitted electronics, not at list price.
On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts: a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat, and osmosis counts as wear and is covered by no hull policy.
