Maverick; cover, cost and conditions

Seven motorboat ranges are recorded under Maverick. The Mirage 17 HPX-S, 17 HPX-V and 18 HPX-V are still in production today, while the 15 HPX-V, the 17 HPX Micro, the 21 Master Angler and the 17 HPX-T ended between 2017 and 2018. The same scope of hull insurance with an agreed value applies to all of them.

If such a boat is powered by an outboard, theft of parts becomes an issue. Full hull cover includes it, outboard included, as well as collision, grounding and vandalism. Compensation is paid on the agreed value with no deduction for depreciation, new for old, in the Premium tariff with no age limit.

Between the slipway and the parking space the trailer takes over the boat. It is included in the boat insurance at no extra premium, and cover applies during launching, craning, in transit and in winter storage. The premium is derived from type of boat, value, year of construction, engine power and cruising range.

Frequent questions

What applies to model ranges still in production?

The same cover applies to current and discontinued ranges. Newer boats and older year classes are equally compensated on the agreed value, with no deduction for depreciation, new for old.

Is the outboard part of the sum insured?

Yes, it belongs in the schedule. Full hull cover includes theft of parts including the outboard, so the loss of the engine alone is also covered.

Licence

A powerboat licence (inland or coastal) is required from 15 hp (11.03 kW).

Registration

Registration from 3 hp; for trips abroad carry the boat certificate or flag document.

Waters

Inland, coastal and abroad; plan fairways, bridge clearances, draught and tides.

Equipment

Lifesaving gear, fire extinguisher, anchor, signalling equipment and correct navigation lights.

Cruising range

As the series is still in production, parts are available and repair costs are predictable. Even so, value it at replacement cost including retrofitted electronics, not at list price.

On a motorboat the drive is the single most valuable part. Damage after grounding is covered, an engine failure from wear is not.
