Electronics and equipment belong in the schedule for the policy, because they help determine the agreed value. This applies equally to the ranges on record, the Northcruiser 14 and 16 as motor yachts and the Finntern 35 as a sailing yacht. In the event of a claim compensation is paid with no deduction for depreciation (new for old).
All the ranges came into being in the seventies, and building ran until 1980. No new units are being added, so these are used boats. We insure regardless of year of build, place of purchase and previous owners, and in the Premium tariff the agreed value applies with no age limit.
Because both motor and sailing yachts are in the programme, in one case the engine output and in the other the sail area goes into the premium, together with the type of boat, value, year of build and cruising range. Third-party liability with a limit of indemnity of 10 to 50 million euros remains the basis in both cases.

Frequent questions
Do retrofitted electronics count towards the insured value?
If they are listed in the schedule, they go into the agreed value. The agreed sum is then paid with no deduction for depreciation (new for old), in the Premium tariff with no age limit.
Does the cover also apply outside the sailing season?
Yes. Winter storage, craning, launching and transit are included. Limited hull cover additionally covers fire, storm, lightning strike and theft of the entire boat.

Licence
A powerboat licence (inland or coastal) is required from 15 hp (11.03 kW).
Registration
Registration from 3 hp; for trips abroad carry the boat certificate or flag document.

For a series of this age there is no list price left. That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it, and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts: a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat, and osmosis counts as wear and is covered by no hull policy.
On motor yachts the drive and the electronics together make up about half the value. Both belong in the valuation, otherwise the sum insured is too low.
