Worth knowing
Omega Yachts; cover, cost and conditions
Omega 28, Omega 30 and Omega 36 are recorded as sailing yachts, with build years between 1974 and 1996. Production has come to an end. With sailing yachts, the sail area takes the place of the engine output when the premium is calculated, and to this are added the value, the year of construction and the cruising range.
A boat that stays on inland waters is rated differently from one that is out along the coast. The brand plays no part, and neither does the number of previous owners. We insure regardless of the year of construction, where the boat was bought and previous owners, with third-party liability cover as the basis in every tariff level.
Club races are included from the Basis-Plus tariff onwards, and you state races with scoring status when taking out the policy. For the hull, the full hull cover applies with an agreed value and with no deduction for depreciation (new for old), in the Premium tariff without an age limit, which matters with yachts from the eighties.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
What role does the sail area play?
With sailing boats it takes the place of the engine output and enters into the premium together with the type of boat, the value, the year of construction and the cruising range. The brand is not taken into account.
May I take part in races with the yacht?
Club races are included from Basis-Plus onwards. You report races with scoring status when taking out the policy, so that there is a clear provision in the contract for those as well.

Series by Omega Yachts, build years and cover
Omega 36 is a sailing yacht from Omega Yachts, built from 1982 to 1996.
Omega 28 is a sailing yacht from Omega Yachts, built from 1974 to 1990.
Omega 30 is a sailing yacht from Omega Yachts, built from 1979 to 1990.
For a series of this age there is no list price left. That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it, and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts: a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat, and osmosis counts as wear and is covered by no hull policy.
