Worth knowing
Sonner; cover, cost and conditions
With the sailing yacht Troll a single range is recorded, built from 1965 to 1972. A boat from that time no longer has a list price by which a settlement could be oriented. That is why the replacement value is determined before the policy starts and carried as an agreed value.
Everything that is to be co-insured belongs in this sum, from the sails to the equipment on deck. In the event of a claim settlement is made with no deduction for depreciation (new for old), in the Premium tariff with no age limit. The settlement therefore does not hang on a later estimate.
Further ranges of the yard are not on record, the production ended in 1972. Acceptance follows nevertheless, because we insure regardless of year of construction, place of purchase and previous owners. At the beginning stands third-party liability with a limit of indemnity of 10 to 50 million euros.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
What is the sum insured for a classic based on?
On the agreed replacement value, which stands in the policy as an agreed value. It also covers the equipment if it is listed in the schedule.
Is the current value deducted for a boat from 1965?
No. Settlement is made with no deduction for depreciation (new for old) on the basis of the agreed value. In the Premium tariff the full hull cover applies with no age limit.

Series by Sonner, build years and cover
Troll is a sailing yacht from Sonner, built from 1965 to 1972.
For a series of this age there is no list price left. That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it, and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts: a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat, and osmosis counts as wear and is covered by no hull policy.
