Worth knowing
Storm Yacht SA; cover, cost and conditions
Three ranges continue to this day, the Storm 22 since 2007, the Storm 23 since 2009 and the Storm 26 since 2010. With sailing boats we ask for the sail area instead of the engine power. It is one of the details from which the premium is derived, together with type of boat, value, year of construction and cruising range.
If you sail club races with such a boat, these are included from the Basis-Plus tariff level onwards. Races with scoring status you state when taking out the policy, then they are expressly written into the contract. In this way the cover also remains in place on race days.
All three ranges come from current production; they are bought new as well as used. For us that changes nothing, we insure regardless of year of construction, place of purchase and previous owners. The boat trailer runs along at no extra premium, and cover applies in winter storage, during craning and during launching.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
Is damage in races covered by the protection?
Club races are included from Basis-Plus onwards. For races with scoring status a statement when taking out the policy is sufficient, so that they are expressly recorded in the contract.
What details do you need for a sailing boat?
Type of boat, value, year of construction, sail area and cruising range. The premium results from these data; the name of the yard does not feed into the calculation.
The cover that fits
For the whole class of boat
What matters for sailing boats and sailing yachts is the same across every brand; engine output, how a claim is settled, cruising range and theft protection. The class page lists every point and every brand in this class.

Registration from 3 hp; for trips abroad carry the boat certificate or flag document.

Cruising range
The agreed cruising range is stated in the policy and can be extended at any time.

Series by Storm Yacht SA, build years and cover
Storm 22 is a sailing boat from Storm Yacht SA, built since 2007.
Storm 23 is a sailing yacht from Storm Yacht SA, built since 2009.
Storm 26 is a sailing yacht from Storm Yacht SA, built since 2010.
As the series is still in production, parts are available and repair costs are predictable. Even so, value it at replacement cost including retrofitted electronics, not at list price.
On boats this size the condition of rig and fittings decides. A dismasting is covered, worn terminals after years are not.
On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts: a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat, and osmosis counts as wear and is covered by no hull policy.
