Worth knowing
Torpen International Boats; cover, cost and conditions
The cabin trimaran Multi 23 is the only range on record, built from 2004 to 2016. Anyone crossing borders with it needs evidence of cover: we issue the international certificate of insurance automatically in ten languages, and the cruising range is agreed when taking out cover.
The premium is based on type of boat, value, year of construction, sail area and cruising range, never on the brand. Third-party liability with a limit of indemnity of 10 to 50 million euros forms the basis, selectable in the Basis, Basis-Plus and Premium tiers. Club races are included from Basis-Plus onwards.
In full hull cover an agreed value applies, compensation is paid with no deduction for depreciation ("new for old"), in the Premium tariff with no age limit. Collision, grounding, vandalism and theft of parts including the outboard are covered, as are winter storage, craning, launching and transit.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
What evidence of cover is there for abroad?
You receive the international certificate of insurance automatically in ten languages. It evidences the cover towards harbours and authorities within the agreed cruising range.
Are multihulls such as the Multi 23 insured?
Yes, the type of boat is recorded in the contract and enters into the premium. We also insure regardless of year of construction, place of purchase and previous owners.

Series by Torpen International Boats, build years and cover
Multi 23 is a cabin trimaran from Torpen International Boats, built from 2004 to 2016.
For a series built in these years the market value and the replacement cost often differ widely. An agreed value removes the age-based scale, and the figure in the policy stands.
On a trimaran the floats and their beams are the weak point, on folding models the mechanism as well.
