How the place works
Mauritius, Réunion and Rodrigues lie in the track of the South Indian cyclones, whose season runs from November to April. The islands are steep, the harbours small, and there is no safe hurricane hole here in the Caribbean sense.
What breaks there
In season the boat is either hauled out or it sits in a harbour that will not hold in a direct hit. Storm surge and swell inside the basin do more harm than the wind.
What this means for your policy
For the southern hemisphere the same logic applies as in the Caribbean, only with a reversed calendar: the blackout period falls in the European winter. Before the season, settle which months are meant and what securing is required.
