Varna and Burgas
Between Varna and Burgas lies an open coast with few sheltered bays and a modest number of marinas. In a north easterly the Black Sea builds a short steep sea quickly, and bolt holes are far apart. Yards and spare parts supply are limited, which lengthens repairs after damage.

Berths, season and winter storage
The season is May to September and berths are inexpensive. In cold years parts of the coast freeze, so ashore storage with frost protection is usual. If you leave the boat here, know how the marina is guarded.
What this means for your policy
The Black Sea is not included in most standard policies and must be expressly agreed; in practice that means a worldwide cruising range or a special agreement. Also clarify whether frost and ice damage in winter storage is covered.
