How the place works
Shallow banks, tight marinas and the hurricane track all meet here. In the Bahamas the water lies at two to three metres over long stretches, and navigation goes by eye and sun angle, because coral heads are not charted individually.
What breaks there
In season, storm surge and swell inside the basin do more harm than the wind: boats are lifted over the pontoon and set down where no crane can reach. Out of season it is grounding on a coral head.
