How the place works

The Müritz is large enough for a proper sea and shallow enough for that sea to stand everywhere: outside the buoyed channel wide areas lie at a metre and less. The lake district beyond is a network of canals, locks and narrow passages, used mostly by charter boats that need no licence.

What breaks there

Grounding outside the channel, impact damage in locks and at pontoons, plus propellers and rudders in the shallows. Rarely expensive in the single case, but this is the area with the highest number of reports of all.
