How the place works
Flooded opencast mines are young waters: the banks are partly still moving, remains of installations, trees and spoil edges stand below the surface, and the charts are rarely as accurate as on natural lakes. Some areas are closed for safety.
What breaks there
Grounding on unexpected edges and contact with sunken objects. Add bank slides that can affect pontoons, and closures announced at short notice.
What this means for your policy
Settle two things: whether the water is named in the policy's cruising range at all, and what applies when an area was officially closed. Damage inside a closed zone is regularly not an insured event.
