How the place works
In winter the bora pushes from the northeast through the strait between Italy and Albania and builds a high, steep sea over a short fetch. The strait is the only link between the Adriatic and the Ionian, there is no way around, and the harbours on both sides are far apart.
What breaks there
The delivery from Croatia to Greece in autumn is the typical occasion, and the damage resembles Biscay: sustained loading on rig and fittings, water below, electronics failing.
What this means for your policy
Check whether the cruising range includes the Albanian and the Greek side alike. Some policies draw a line at the Adriatic, and then cover ends exactly where the passage begins.
