How the place works
The Main is impounded, but its catchment reacts fast to prolonged rain and snowmelt in the Spessart. In the winter half of the year the level rises within a day, and with the water come branches, pallets and pieces of bank revetment.
What breaks there
Boats moved too late hang themselves in their lines or drift away with the pontoon. Debris hits rudders and propellers, and as the water falls boats settle on sloping banks.
