How the place works

In the Patagonian channels the williwaws fall from the mountains: gusts that hit the water at gale force out of calm and are gone within minutes. They are local, not in the forecast, and they come from any direction.

What breaks there

Anchored boats are knocked down or driven out of the bay. That is why boats here are not only anchored but also tied to trees and rocks with shore lines, often four lines to four sides.

What this means for your policy

Whether anchor damage is covered depends on whether the securing suited the area. In Patagonia suitable means anchor plus shore lines. Also settle how far salvage costs extend, because help here is days away.
