How the place works
The Rio de la Plata is huge and shallow: over a hundred miles wide at the mouth and under five metres deep over long stretches, with silt banks that shift. The pampero, a squall from the southwest, arrives within minutes and builds a steep sea over the shallow water at once.
What breaks there
Grounding on a bank on a falling tide and anchor damage in a pampero are the two cases. The water is so murky that shoals cannot be seen, and the buoyage is laid out for commercial shipping.
What this means for your policy
Settle whether grounding in the estuary is covered without restriction and whether an anchor watch is required. The pampero is forecast, but at very short notice, and that is what the question of the duty aims at.
